How to Use the ExitFlex TwinFit Airless Spray Gun Guard with Speedy-6 and Speedy-7 Tips

The ExitFlex TwinFit airless spray gun guard is designed to give painters flexibility—but that flexibility can cause confusion if you’re not sure which side of the guard, spray tip, and seat & seal combination goes together.

If you’ve ever installed a tip and thought “this doesn’t feel right”, you’re not alone. Let’s break it down step by step so you can confidently use Speedy-6, Speedy-7, Graco RacX, and other common airless spray tips with the TwinFit guard—without leaks, blowouts, or frustration.

Understanding the TwinFit Guard: Two Sides, Two Systems

The ExitFlex TwinFit guard has two different sides, each designed for a specific spray tip size and standard.

🔵 Round Side = Speedy-6–Style Tips

The round side of the TwinFit guard is designed for Speedy-6–style spray tips, which use a smaller barrel size.

This side is compatible with:

  • ExitFlex Speedy-6 tips
  • Titan spray tips
  • TriTech spray tips
  • Bedford spray tips
  • Graco RAC 5 (RAC V) spray tips

These tips all share the same general size and seating design and will sit properly in the round side of the TwinFit guard when installed correctly.

👉 If you’re using any of the brands listed above, the round side is the side you want.

â—¼ Square Side = Speedy-7 / Graco RacX–Style Tips

The square side of the TwinFit guard is designed for larger-barrel spray tips, including:

  • ExitFlex Speedy-7 tips
  • Graco RacX spray tips

Speedy-7 tips sold at Paint Life Supply Co. are blue and are built to match the Graco RacX platform. These tips will seat properly only on the square side of the TwinFit guard.

🚫 Speedy-7 or RacX tips should never be used on the round side.

Seat & Seal: The Most Common Mistake Painters Make

Even if you’re using the correct side of the guard, the setup can still fail if the wrong seat & seal is installed.

Speedy-6 Seat & Seal

  • Identified by a black nylon O-ring

Must be used with:

  • Speedy-6 tips
  • Titan, TriTech, Bedford, and Graco RAC 5 tips
  • The round side of the TwinFit guard

Speedy-7 / RacX Seat & Seal

  • Identified by a baby blue O-ring

Must be used with:

  • Speedy-7 tips
  • Graco RacX tips
  • The square side of the TwinFit guard

🚨Important:

Speedy-6 and Speedy-7 seat & seals are not interchangeable. Using the wrong one will cause leaks, poor spray patterns, or tip failure.

What’s Inside the Tip Housing (This Trips People Up)

If you pull out the green housing of a Speedy-6 tip, you may find a Speedy-7 seat & seal already inside.

The baby blue O-ring seat & seal:

  • Is only for Speedy-7 or RacX tips
  • Will not work with Speedy-6–style tips

If you’re running a Speedy-6, Titan, TriTech, Bedford, or RAC 5 tip:

  • Remove the blue O-ring seat & seal
  • Replace it with the black O-ring Speedy-6 seat & seal

This is one of the most common causes of confusion when switching between tip types.

Quick Setup Cheat Sheet

Tip Type Guard Side Seat & Seal

Speedy-6 - Round side - Black nylon O-ring

Titan - Round side - Black nylon O-ring

TriTech - Round side - Black nylon O-ring

Bedford - Round side - Black nylon O-ring

Graco RAC 5 - Round side - Black nylon O-ring

Speedy-7 (Blue) - Square side - Baby blue O-ring

Graco RacX - Square side - Baby blue O-ring

Final Takeaway

The ExitFlex TwinFit guard is an excellent system—but everything has to match:

Speedy-6–style tips (including Titan, TriTech, Bedford, and RAC 5)

→ Round side

→ Black nylon O-ring

Speedy-7 and Graco RacX tips

→ Square side

→ Baby blue O-ring

Once you understand this setup, switching tips takes seconds—and your spray gun performs exactly the way it should.
