The Fan Pivot: A Game-Changing Spray Accessory Every Painter Needs

At the National Hardware Show last year, I came across a product that immediately caught my attention. At the time, it was just a prototype—promising, innovative, but not yet available. Fast forward to the 2025 National Hardware Show, and that same product is now officially on the market.

It’s called The Fan Pivot, and after putting it to work in real-world conditions, I can confidently say: this is one of those tools that makes you wonder why it didn’t exist sooner.

What Is the Fan Pivot?

If you’ve ever sprayed paint, you know the constant battle between vertical and horizontal spray patterns. One minute you’re cutting in a vertical edge, the next you’re spraying horizontal siding or trim. Traditionally, that means stopping, grabbing the guard, twisting it—often in awkward, unsafe positions.

The Fan Pivot solves that problem.

It mounts between your spray gun and tip (or extension) and allows you to instantly rotate your spray fan 90° with a simple flick of your finger. No awkward arm angles. No wrestling with the guard. No downtime.

Just quick, clean transitions—exactly when you need them.

Why This Matters on the Jobsite

1. Speed & Efficiency

Every time you stop to rotate a guard, you lose momentum. Over the course of a day—or a week—that adds up. With the Fan Pivot, switching spray direction is instant, keeping you moving and productive.

2. Improved Safety

This is a big one.

Most of us are used to grabbing the front guard to rotate our fan. That puts your hand dangerously close to the spray tip, increasing the risk of paint injection injuries—one of the most serious hazards in spraying.

The Fan Pivot keeps your hand away from the danger zone. You never have to reach in front of the gun. You can rotate it with one finger, from behind the guard, safely and confidently.

3. Works With Extensions

Need more reach? No problem.

You can leave the Fan Pivot on your gun full-time and add any extension you want. The rotation works exactly the same—giving you reach and control without compromise.

4. Magnetic 90° Locking System

Inside the Fan Pivot are dual magnets that lock the unit into precise 90° positions.

  • Don’t turn it far enough? It snaps back.
  • Turn it past the midpoint? It automatically locks into the next position.

No guesswork. No half-turned fans. Just clean, consistent alignment every time.

Built to Last (and Rebuildable)

This isn’t a disposable gadget.

The Fan Pivot uses a single aircraft-grade O-ring—designed to withstand extreme temperatures, solvents, acids, and high RPMs. In real-world use, you’re rotating it maybe once per second at most. That means the O-ring will last virtually indefinitely.

And when it does need service?

  • Replacement O-rings come with it
  • You can service it yourself
  • No special tools required

This is a tool designed for years of professional use.

Compatibility: Will It Fit My Gun?

Yes—most likely.

The Fan Pivot currently comes in two versions:

  • 7/8 thread base (standard North American)
  • 11/16 thread base (common in the EU and parts of Latin America)

The black version simply indicates the different thread size. Same performance—just color-coded for compatibility.

Does It Add Weight?

This was one of my concerns at first.

After spraying new construction for 18 straight days, I can honestly say: I don’t even notice it’s there. The weight is minimal and doesn’t contribute to fatigue at all.

The Best Part? The Price

I guessed this thing would cost around $150.

Actual MSRP?
👉
$39.95

For a tool that:

  • Improves speed
  • Increases safety
  • Reduces fatigue
  • Lasts for years
  • Pays for itself in productivity

That’s a no-brainer.

Final Thoughts

Anything that helps painters work faster, safer, and more efficiently is worth paying attention to—and the Fan Pivot checks all those boxes.

It’s simple.
It’s smart.
It’s finally available.

Once you use it, you won’t want to spray without it.

Check it out. Try it. And welcome to faster, safer spraying.
